On Friday 9th October 2015 a very calm minicab driver on the way to London Heathrow Airport tested his driving skills to the limit when one of his passengers felt unexpectedly ill.
Ian Jones, from an east London based airport transfer company was asked by his passenger to pull over as he started to experience some chest pains.
Ian instantly remained calm and stated that he was only 1.5miles away from the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel. His passenger was taken straight to the hospital and treated for chest related pains.
Ian was asked what he felt when his passenger asked him to pull over. Ian said “usually when a passenger asks me to pull over it’s to go to the cash point or stop off at a shop. I was definitely not expecting him to say that he thinks he’s having a heart attack. I knew instantly that the guy needs help and I took him straight to the Royal London”.
Since the 9th October, Ian has kept in contact with his passenger and was happy to say that it was not a heart attack and was angina. He is taking it easy now and says that he thanks Ian and doesn’t know how he can repay him.
